My contributions to materials science and engineering research.
Investigated the effects of three processing conditions-natural (untreated), seasoned, and chemically treated followed by densification on the structural performance of natural wood. The study covered three tropical wood species (Swietenia macrophylla, Albizia procera, and Cordia subcordata). Specimens were seasoned under controlled conditions or chemically pretreated using NaOH and Na2SO3, followed by thermo-mechanical hot-press densification. Comprehensive characterization was performed using tensile, compression, three-point bending, impact, moisture absorption, and SEM analyses in accordance with ASTM standards, revealing superior mechanical performance in chemically treated and densified samples.
